Where we ate in Valle de Guadalupe + sweet life updates

Hi Readers!

It’s been a while. So much has unfolded since my last restaurant story, so I have a lot to share. For one, to celebrate Asian American History throughout May, new and exciting content will be published on Life Glamorized. I’ll be sharing compelling stories of creative Asian American entrepreneurs, like Han Tran, founder of Shank & Bone, a popular modern Vietnamese restaurant in the North Park neighborhood of San Diego. So come back each week for a new story!

I’m now eager to share other news and a major recap. Back in February, Mr. Sweet and I took a day-trip to Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California to celebrate our two-year marriage anniversary. We started our day across the border at Viñedo En’kanto, where I picked the very oranges that were squeezed into my fresh juice! After hanging out and enjoying the scenery, we headed to Vinos Pijoan for appetizers and beverages.

Then came the most anticipated part of our day: eating at acclaimed restaurant FAUNA. The restaurant highlights fresh catch paired with seasonal veggies. Each plate of food is artistic and colorful. Broccoli never tasted so expensive. And in between each meal, you begin noticing the elegant details all around.

After six courses came dessert and a surprise I had teased Mr. Sweet about beforehand. The surprise was hands down the best part of the meal. Well, because, that’s when I revealed to Mr. Sweet the sweet news: I’M PREGNANT!

How I shared the news that I'm pregnant to Mr. Sweet

The surprise was hands down the best part of the meal. Well, because, that’s when I revealed to Mr. Sweet the sweet news: I’M PREGNANT!

I teased him with a pregnancy test that showed those infamous two pink lines the night before, but I noted how the results could still be negative. I confirmed my pregnancy by sharing another test that clearly read PREGNANT that day at the restaurant. I coordinated with the waiter to bring my positive pregnancy test along with our dessert.

“What! That’s the surprise? I’m gonna be a dad?!” Mr. Sweet said in reaction.

I didn't get to drink any wine while we were in Valle, but that’s okay! My time will come again, eventually. We’re now at the beginning of my second trimester. We made it here safe and sound, and I’m happy to share Baby Sweet is healthy and growing well. We’re beyond excited to welcome our first-born, come this October.

I’m feeling thrill, anxiety and humility in anticipation of being a new mother. I’m also feeling blessed that I get to raise and nurture a child alongside someone who is going to be a loving and present father.

So to my Mr. Sweet, I can’t wait to do parenthood with you. Our life will soon be more blessed, chaotic and profound, yet there’s no one else I’d rather go through all of that with than you. I choose you and will continue to do so for a lifetime.

Thank you all for reading. Come back next week for more stories about food, style and now, my growing family! Happy Mother’s Day to all the mommy and mommy-figures out there! I can’t wait to join the club.
