What I wore & the Mana of Maui

Maui is magical to me. Was it because it was my first time on the island? Or was it the Maui sunsets and sunrises you hear so much about? We also did a helicopter tour of West Maui and Molokai, where the pilot glided over mountain tops and shared with us a story of the Mana, the Spirit of Maui illuminating one’s path. It could have also been the three different rainbows we saw. In the end, it was the Mana, not magic that filled our travels.
On another note, I’d be remiss to not address traveling to Hawaii during the delta variant going around. We were hesitant to continue pursuing our travels at first, but when we called one of our stays to confirm if we should be concerned about anything, we were advised that so long as we stay within our own bubble, we’d be okay. And that’s what we did. We wore our masks whenever necessary and tried our best to socially distance from others.
Everywhere we went, whether we were driving on the narrow and terrifying roads of Kahekili Highway (Highway 340) or the Road to Hana, we were safe and sound. I’d like to believe spirits were protecting us, allowing us to experience only splendor and appreciation for Hawaii’s sacred lands and friendly locals.

We survived the Road to Hana! Here we are on the Hana side of Maui and at the Hana-Maui Resort by Hyatt, where we enjoyed walking around with our cocktails and meeting a nice couple from Los Angeles at the swimming pool before evening. We also found a red sand beach our final morning, which our new friends generously told us about. If you look at the middle bungalow sticking out a bit, that’s where Mr. Sweet and I stayed. Look at this splendid scene. The Mana in Hana speaks to you as the sun rises!
